Adjustments for a New Year

In this novel, following the episode "God Bless the Child," Vincent feels betrayed by Catherine and marries Lena. Catherine marries Joe Maxwell. Vincent and Catherine share an extramarital affair.

The author states the novel might be called an alternative universe story within the given canon because the time line stops with God Bless the Child and does not include anything that occurred after that episode. Charles Chandler is still alive in this universe. Says the author,, "It's not your typical Vincent/Catherine romance, nor was it intended to be."
